Support for « La Halte du Cœur »

Like every year for the past 3 years, Crustamar is happy to give a helping hand to the association « La Halte du Coeur ». Their work to help people in need is incredible, and we’re proud to be able to contribute in our own way.

This year again, we donated 80kg of shrimp to support their work. It’s a small gesture, but we hope it will make a difference. Thank you to the whole team at « La Halte du Cœur » for their commitment to helping people in difficulty or in precarious situations.

We are delighted and proud to announce that Crustamar has just been certified IFS Broker !

Why did we choose to commit to this rigorous and demanding certification ?

The IFS Broker standard is essential for importers: indeed, Crustamar creates the link between producers and its clients.

The IFS Broker certification guarantees a system for controlling the quality and safety of products throughout the supply chain, while taking into account the legal requirements in force.

Crustamar has always been committed to promoting a culture of product safety.

This is reflected in our daily operations through the implementation of a strict control plan with release analyses, origin audits, and secure supply chains, as well as complete traceability. Crustamar was also the first European importer to be ISO 9001 certified. We have also held BIO, MSC, and ASC certifications since 2019.

Therefore, as part of our continuous improvement, it seemed essential to us to keep progressing, and it was quite natural to commit to this new approach.

This work, initiated by management and the quality department, was carried out jointly, involving all Crustamar employees at every level.

Being certified allows Crustamar to reaffirm its commitment to its supplier partners as well as its client partners in terms of the safety and quality of its supply chain.

The Seafood Expo Global is the must-attend event for all industry professionals. Since 2020, Crustamar has chosen not to exhibit, but wouldn’t miss this key event for anything! This year, Amélie and Philippe attended: 3 intense days, about fifty meetings, and no downtime. In fact, you might have seen them in the aisles of the expo or on the plane 🙂 …

According to Diversified Communications, the organizer, this 30th edition welcomed ‘a record number of exhibiting companies and participants.’ The numbers speak for themselves: 2,244 exhibitors from 87 countries worldwide, 67 national and regional pavilions, and over 35,000 buyers and suppliers in the industry. The economic impact for the city of Barcelona is estimated to be around 156 million euros.

A trip to Peru is always an enriching experience !

Philippe and Amélie went to northern Peru, specifically the Tumbes and Piura regions, in early February for an intense week full of meetings and rich in new experiences.

Not only did this trip allow them to reconnect with and audit the suppliers of shrimp “Penaeus vannamei” and giant squid “Dosidicus gigas” that we already work with, but also to initiate new contacts, identify new supply chains, and discover new products such as the scallops from Sechura Bay “Argopecten purpuratus” and the octopus “Octopus mimus”.

They also had the chance to witness the seeding of the ponds by our organic shrimp farmer and partner.

Here’s a little story about how it happens: once the customs formalities are completed, the larvae are brought to the ponds as quickly as possible. It takes about an hour for them to acclimate to the pond temperature, then they are released from their bags. They are then left to take possession of their pond and are fed so they can grow peacefully for three months before being harvested.

Once again this year, our Crustamar team was present as visitor at one of the most important frozen seafood show.

The opportunity for Crustamar to meet its main supplier partners.

The Conxemar fair takes place every year in early October in Vigo, and is growing popularity.

This edition was “an absolute success” according to its organizers: 45 countries were represented, for 767 exhibitors, and 26,736 visitors.

2024 edition will take place from October 1 to 3. See you there !
